The Coppery-headed Emerald is one of just a handful of birds that are endemic to the small country of Costa Rica. It can be found in the mountains of the Monteverde Cloud Forest and the surrounding area. It is a small hummingbird. The males, such as this one, are distinguished by their iridescent green bodies and coppery caps and tails.

The males form small groupings or leks to attract mates.

They are 3 inches long and about 0.15 grams.
